[ARCHIVED] Authorities Investigating Suspicious Devices

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a suspicious devices call in the Sugarland Run area.

On Saturday February 25, 2012, shortly before 10:00 a.m. Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies were alerted to three suspicious devices, believed to be pipe bombs, beside a bridge along Algonkian Parkway in Sugarland Run. Deputies arrived to find three devices. Two of the devices had already been detonated and one remained intact.

Resources from the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office and additional resources from the Sheriff’s Office were summoned to the scene, to include the joint Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team. All devices were rendered safe on the scene.

No evacuations were necessary due to the remote location of the devices and the composition of the devices.

Any person with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office at 703-737-8600 and ask to speak with Assistant Fire Marshal Ludvigsen.
