RESTON MAN SENTENCED FOR RAPE

TWENTY-NINE YEARS IMPOSED

LEESBURG, Virginia – May 18, 2015. Julio C. Saravia, 33, appeared before the Circuit Court of Loudoun County, in custody, for sentencing on one count of rape. Judge Thomas D. Horne sentenced Saravia to twenty-nine years in the Virginia Department of Corrections. Additionally, Horne imposed a three year period of post-release supervision.

Between February 2013 and August 2013, Saravia engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor child on several occasions. In the early fall of 2013 the victim disclosed to a family member that Saravia had sex with her. The family member contacted law enforcement, who subsequently interviewed Saravia. In a recorded interview, Saravia admitted to having sex with the victim on multiple occasions.

Saravia pleaded guilty to one count of rape on November 24, 2014.

In addition to the total active sentence of twenty-nine years, Horne further ordered that Saravia be placed on supervised probation for life, and have no unsupervised contact with minors.

Pursuant to Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Act, Saravia will also be required to register as a sex offender. Information about the Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry and those on it can be found on the Virginia State Police website: http://sex-offender.vsp.virginia.gov,

Saravia is scheduled to be sentenced on June 19, 2015 in Fairfax County Circuit Court for five counts of rape by force. Saravia faces a term of life in prison for each count.

Saravia, a native of El Salvador, may be subject to a Federal Immigration Detainer, which would direct his removal from the United States upon his release.
