The more than 100 pets at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter have one wish this holiday season - to find a loving home. Their dream could come true Saturday, December 26, 2015, when the shelter will be hosting an adoption extravaganza. All adoptions will be free 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM. There will be plenty of holiday fun and festivities too - hot cocoa and cookies, family photos with Santa, holiday music and more.

All adopted dogs and cats will have been spayed or neutered and received age-appropriate vaccinations, a check-up, and a microchip and dogs, cats, guinea pigs, horses and others will be sent home with a Christmas prize pack filled with fun toys and treats to share with their new family.

The Loudoun County Department of Animal Services (LCAS) is also assisting a shelter in Raleigh County, West Virginia, by offering kennel space to some of their dogs and cats. “We are fortunate to be able to share the generosity and compassion of the Loudoun community with other homeless pets in need,” said Animal Care Manager Ellen Nadeau. “We know people in Loudoun love pets, and these animals need a second chance. What better time to open up your heart to a homeless cat or dog?”

Photos of available pets will be posted at www.loudoun.gov/animals and updates will be available at www.facebook.com/loudounanimals .

Please note that LCAS will be closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25, reopening on Saturday, December 26.
