Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) will host an adoption event Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., featuring dogs from Louisiana and West Virginia as well as cats, rabbits, turtles and other small animals. Adopters will receive an original Homeward Bound T-shirt as well as a goody bag containing toys, treats and gifts for their new pet.

Through a partnership with LCAS, about a dozen dogs traveling from Louisiana arrived at the shelter on Thursday in advance of the event. “Pet overpopulation is a tremendous challenge in New Orleans and we are fortunate to be in a position to be able to help other shelters and animals in need,” said Amy Martin, Loudoun Animal Shelter Operations Manager. “On average, dogs are adopted very quickly from our shelter, so transport partnerships like this help find a new road home for animals from under-resourced communities.”

All cats and dogs at the Homeward Bound event are spayed or neutered and have received age-appropriate vaccinations, a health certificate and a microchip.

Photos of the available pets will be posted online at www.loudoun.gov/animals and updates can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/loudounanimals .
