PLOWMAN REAPPOINTED BY GOVERNOR MCDONNELL
TO VIRGINIA STATE CRIME COMMISSION

LEESBURG, Virginia – August 20, 2012. In a statement outlining a list of appointments issued by the Governor’s Office on Friday, August 17, was the reappointment of Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman to the Virginia State Crime Commission.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity to be at the forefront of developing public safety issues and crime prevention initiatives. I’m honored that the Governor would place that trust in me and provide a voice for Loudoun County in this area,” stated Plowman. “The Crime Commission has a significant list of topics that it will be reviewing this fall, and I’m very much looking forward to continuing my work with the other members.”

The purpose of the Commission is to study, report and make recommendations on all areas of public safety and protection. In so doing, the Commission shall endeavor to ascertain the causes of crime and recommend ways to reduce and prevent it, explore and recommend methods of rehabilitation of convicted criminals, study compensation of persons in law enforcement and related fields and study other related matters including the apprehension, trial and punishment of criminal offenders.

Newly appointed to the Commission were Robyn Diehl McDougle of Mechanicsville, an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice of L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University and Nancy G. Parr, the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Chesapeake, who each filled vacancies. The Governor appoints three individuals from across the state to the thirteen member body, each to serve two year terms.
