On Saturday, December 9, 2017, Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS) will host the 3rd annual Home for the Holidays, a free adoption event from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Loudoun County Animal Shelter, 39820 Charles Town Pike, Waterford. Adoption fees will be waived on all adoptable pets regardless of species and age. The event will be full of holiday cheer with a hot cocoa station, fire-toasted s’mores, goodie bags for adopters, and more!

“We do everything we can to provide Loudoun’s homeless pets with a loving, comfortable place to stay, but nothing compares to the love and comfort they will have in a home with a family to call their own,” says LCAS Shelter Operations Manager Amy Martin. “If our kennels are empty by the end of the event, I think that would make our staff’s holiday wishes come true!”

In lieu of adoption, those wishing to help homeless pets may bring donations, make a financial contribution to the LCAS Animal Program Trust Fund, or become a donor through Friends of Loudoun County Animal Services.

LCAS is collecting supplies for shelter pets including durable, rubber pet toys, such as KONG brand toys, puzzle feeders, leashes, cat and dog collars, and toys for all species of pets. The shelter also collects canned dog and cat food as well as small bags (10 lbs. or less) of dry dog and cat food for the Pet Pantry program. Pet Pantry provides kits of food to Loudoun families in need.

Loudoun County Animal Services provides an open door to all types of domestic animals, sheltering more than 2,000 animals each year and never turning away a Loudoun pet in need. All pets available for adoption during Home for the Holidays will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and given age-appropriate vaccinations.

More information about LCAS is online at www.loudoun.gov/animals.
