[ARCHIVED] Important Notice for Those Interested in Prepaying Taxes

Please read this important notice from the Loudoun County Treasurer's Office if you are interested in prepaying property taxes: 

The Treasurer’s Office is not able to advise taxpayers on their federal or state taxes; however, we are providing a link to the latest Internal Revenue Service bulletin issued December 27, 2017, regarding the deductibility of tax prepayments. Click here for the IRS bulletin.

Original News Release December 22, 2017

Taxpayers who are current on all of their Loudoun County taxes, may choose to make a prepayment of their future tax payments prior to receiving their bills for upcoming years. If you would like to prepay your taxes, simply write your account number on your check along with "Prepayment of Tax" on the memo line and drop off at one of our offices by no later than Friday, December 29, 2017. Office locations are listed on this page.

Please note that county offices are closed December 25 & 26 in observance of Christmas. 

If you would like to pay by credit card or cash, you must come into the office and explicitly state that you are prepaying your property taxes. Payments will be processed as of the receipt date of the payment.   
  • Taxpayers may prepay Loudoun County taxes at any time.
  • Taxpayers must come to one of our offices to pay by cash or credit card. 
  • Checks may be mailed to: County of Loudoun, P.O. Box 347, Leesburg VA 20178-0347. 
  • Checks must be clearly marked “Prepayment of Tax” on the memo line and include your account number.
  • Any payments dropped off must include a contact name and phone number in the event there are questions.
  • Taxpayers may request a receipt for their payment and it will reflect the date the payment was received in our office, or the envelope was postmarked, whichever is earlier.
  • Prepayment of taxes must be paid directly to County of Loudoun, regardless of your participation with any escrow service through your mortgage company. You will be responsible for working with your mortgage company on any escrow changes in the future.
