The ribbon cutting at E.E. Lake General Store in Bluemont, Virginia, planned for January 6, 2018, has been canceled due to the extremely low temperatures forecast for the region.
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure, Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services and Bluemont Citizens Association will reschedule the public ceremony at a later date.
The store is located at 18351 Railroad Street (corner of Snickersville Turnpike) in Bluemont, VA. The property is a contributing resource to the Bluemont National Register Historic District and is within the County’s Historic and Cultural Conservation District.
Renovation of the property included provisions for restrooms, accessibility, parking, and building code compliance, using state transportation grant funds and county funds. The renovated property will serve as a Bluemont area welcome center for tourists and a rest stop for bicyclists and pedestrians.
