[ARCHIVED] Loudoun County Animal Services Awarded Custody of Dogs Seized on Greenway

Loudoun County General District Court has awarded the Loudoun County Department of Animal Services custody of the Pit Bull-type dogs seized on the Dulles Greenway on September 7, 2012.

Tremain Dene Johnson, 44, of Lithonia, Georgia, and Harry Ortice Puckett, 33, of Elgin, Illinois, were arrested and charged with importing pet dogs into the Commonwealth of Virginia from another state without certificate of veterinary inspection, a Class 1 misdemeanor. They are scheduled to appear in General District Court on these charges October 10, 2012.

Ten dogs were seized on September 7, but only 9 remain. One dog was seriously ill and died while undergoing treatment from the department’s veterinarian. Many of the dogs continue to receive veterinary care due to pre-existing medical conditions and illness.

The Loudoun County Department of Animal Services is located at 39820 Charles Town Pike in Waterford, Virginia and can be reached seven days a week by calling 703-777-0406. More information about the department is available online at www.loudoun.gov/animals.
