[ARCHIVED] Nonprofits seeking Property Tax Exemptions must apply by April 2, 2018

Loudoun County Commissioner of the Revenue, Robert S. Wertz, Jr. is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations seeking exemption from Loudoun County real and/or personal property taxes for the 2019 tax year.  The application deadline is Monday, April 2, 2018.

Most charitable nonprofit organizations are not automatically exempt from local property taxes in the Commonwealth of Virginia, even those that may be exempt from federal income taxes.  The filing of an application with the Commissioner of the Revenue is the necessary first step to obtain a local real estate or personal property tax exemption.  Completed applications should be returned to the Commissioner of the Revenue postmarked no later than April 2, 2018, for consideration this year.  Any exemption, if granted, would be effective January 1, 2019.  Nonprofit organizations that have already been provided an exemption from Loudoun County property taxes need not file an application.

Any organization that is unsure about its tax status should contact the Exemptions and Deferrals Division of the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue at 703-737-8557 or trcor@loudoun.gov for further information.  Applications are available online at www.loudoun.gov/cor under Quick Links.
