Loudoun County, VA- The weekend’s inclement weather didn’t dampen the spirits of hundreds of residents who attended the dedication ceremony and open house of the new Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Ashburn Station.

The Ashburn Station now serves the second largest population of all of the station areas in the county. The Ashburn Station service area has a population of 98,362 residents as of 2018, second only to the Dulles South Station in population.

Despite the extraordinary growth of our county, with over 49,000 new residents in just five years, Loudoun County has produced the lowest crime rate in Northern Virginia.  Loudoun County also reported the second lowest crime rate reported by the 23 regional law enforcement agencies from Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

“It is community engagement, working together, that makes Loudoun County such a great place to live. So when you see the Ashburn Station, I want you to think of it as more than a law enforcement facility – it is a gathering place, offering a community room to our residents, and providing vital public safety services, such as local records checks, notary services, report taking and even a drop box for the proper disposal of prescription medications,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman during the dedication ceremony. “Thank you for welcoming us to the community and remember that you are always welcome here. We are here to serve you,” Sheriff Chapman added.

The Ashburn Station will provide substantial public safety services to the community and reduce travel time to the Loudoun Sheriff's Office Headquarters in Leesburg.

“It’s hard to believe just over 10-years ago that the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office had no dedicated station that specifically served the community. Deputies would often have to travel back to Leesburg to turn in paperwork. Residents would also have to travel to Leesburg to obtain many services we provide to the community,” said Major Christopher Hines, Commander of the LCSO Field Operations Division. “The Ashburn Station represents the final steps by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in the implementation of the station concept. The station concept allows the deputies and detectives assigned to Ashburn to resolve issues within the communities we serve,” added Captain Dave Hibberd, Ashburn Station Commander.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office opened their first county-owned station in 2007 in the Dulles South area. The Dulles South Public Safety Center serves as a combined fire-rescue station and law enforcement station. The Eastern Loudoun Station was opened in 2010 and was the agency’s first stand-alone station. The Western Loudoun Station in Round Hill opened to the public in 2016.

The dedication ceremony featured the presentation of colors by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and a stirring rendition of the National Anthem by Janice Pietsch of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center. The dedication concluded with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and the raising of the colors.

Following the dedication ceremony, members of the community took a self-guided tour of the new facility.

The Ashburn Station is located at 20272 Savin Hill Drive in Ashburn, Va. The dedication was held September 22, 2018.
