LCSO, Purcellville Police, Leesburg Police, and Loudoun Fire & Rescue to Welcome US Military Veterans to the Virginia.

          Loudoun County, VA  On October 27, 2016, 100 war veterans from Iowa arrived at the Dulles International Airport as part of the Honor Flight Network. The group included three World War II Veterans, seven Korean War Veterans, and 90 Veterans from the Vietnam War.

Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman, Assistant Fire Chief Keith Johnson, LCSO Command staff and deputies, and members of the Leesburg Police and Purcellville Police Departments alongside students from several Loudoun County elementary schools and area residents and volunteers greeted the veterans as they entered the terminal. The veterans proceeded through a pathway filled with banners and flags to honor their service as they exited the airport onto the buses. The buses were escorted by the Loudoun County Motor Units and Metropolitan Airports Authority Police as a combined Honor Guard from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Leesburg Police Department, the Purcellville Police Department and the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue presented the colors at their departure.

Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created to transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC to visit the memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices. The veterans and their guardians to visit and reflect at their memorials prior to returning to Iowa.
