ARLINGTON MAN CONVICTED OF ELECTRONIC SOLICITATION OF A MINOR
LOUDOUN JUDGE IMPOSES 5 YEARS IN PRISON
LEESBURG, Virginia – June 6, 2018. Jose Lenin Parra Camargo, 43, appeared before Judge Donald M. Haddock in Loudoun County Circuit Court for sentencing on one count of electronic solicitation of a minor under fifteen, while being at least seven years older. Haddock imposed a total active sentence of five years in the Virginia Department of Corrections.
In early March 2017, a Leesburg Police Department Detective posted an ad on Craigslist posing as a fourteen-year-old girl. Parra Camargo responded to the detective and engaged in an ongoing conversation with the “fourteen-year-old” that was sexual in nature.
On April 13, 2017, Parra Camargo arrived at a pre-arranged meeting location with the expectation of meeting the teenager for sexual purposes. Parra Camargo was subsequently placed under arrest.
Parra Camargo pleaded guilty to the offense on January 26, 2018.
Haddock imposed an additional five years of suspended time. Upon his release, Parra Camargo will be placed on five years of supervised probation.
Pursuant to Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Act, Parra Camargo will also be required to register as a sex offender. Information about the Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry and those on it can be found on the Virginia State Police website: http://sex-offender.vsp.virginia.gov.
