The Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center in Purcellville, Virginia hosted a preview of “Happy Accidents: An Exhibit of Original Bob Ross Paintings” for media Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019. The show represents the first time the artist’s collection will be on public display on the East Coast. The exhibit, with a total of 24 paintings, opens Sept. 10 and runs through Oct. 15.

An opening reception for the public will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the reception is free and tickets are not required. The Franklin Park Arts Center is located at 36441 Blueridge View Lane, Purcellville, Virginia, 20132.

“Happy Accidents: An Exhibit of Original Bob Ross Paintings,” presented in partnership with Bob Ross Inc., offers a rare opportunity to view works created by the artist during his long-running series on public television. Ross frequently visited the Bob Ross Inc. headquarters in Northern Virginia and often found himself in Purcellville where he enjoyed searching through the many antique treasures of western Loudoun. “It’s quite poetic that his first major exhibit would be in Purcellville,” says Bob Ross Inc. President Joan Kowalski. “Joan and I are thrilled for the opportunity that our shared personal and professional aspirations for the arts scene in Loudoun led to this somewhat accidental collaboration on an extraordinary exhibit, says Arts Center Manager and Exhibit Curator Elizabeth Bracey.
