[ARCHIVED] New & Renovated PRCS Facilities Open

Ribbon cutting ceremonies were recently held for three PRCS facilities. The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services and the Office of Construction and Waste Management marked the grand opening of Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center in Ashburn on October 27, 2012. The new facility provides a licensed, adult-day center for up to 30 clients with physical and mental impairments. The two departments held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Bluemont Community Center on November 3, 2012. The original building was constructed in 1923. It served as the local school until the 1960s and as a school storage site until 1988, when community center programs were launched. Renovations include restoration of the stone foundation and exterior walls, new metal roofing, insulation and a geothermal HVAC system, new windows, and a 2700 square-foot, two-story addition. The grand opening of Hampshire Park,a proffered, 9.5-acre active park site in Ashburn, was also held on November 3. The park includes two irrigated lacrosse fields, a concession stand with bathroom facilities and meeting space, access to the W&OD trail, and parking. For photos, visit Loudoun PRCS on Facebook.
