Looking to earn extra money and help Loudoun County residents in 2020? The Loudoun Workforce Resource Center is hosting a full-day event with the U.S. Census Bureau to recruit for and fill U.S. census taker, also called “enumerator,” positions.

Hundreds of U.S. census takers are needed to canvass door-to-door in Loudoun neighborhoods from spring through summer 2020.  Census takers will interview members of households that have not responded to the census to collect census information. These positions may be part-time and flexible and have a starting pay of $25.00 per hour. Paid training for U.S. census enumerators is provided as well. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with access to reliable transportation.

Taken every 10 years, the census determines how much money communities receive for aid programs, such as school meals, crime victim assistance and housing vouchers. It also affects how state legislative districts are drawn and the number of congressional representatives for each state.

The recruitment event is being held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Rust Library, 380 Old Waterford Road NW in Leesburg. The event will be structured as a series of back-to-back information sessions every hour; each session will include a 30-minute presentation followed by 20-25 minutes of application assistance. Sessions will begin every hour on the half-hour with the last session starting at 2:30 p.m.

Participants should bring their own technology (phone, tablet, laptop) or plan to use a library computer (a one-day library pass can be provided if not a library card holder) to access the online application and assessments. Registration is not required to attend or participate. For questions or more information about this event, contact the Workforce Resource Center at 703-777-0150.

For those who cannot attend the recruitment event, the 2020 census jobs website allows applicants to apply for jobs, including recruiting assistants, office operations supervisors, clerks, census field supervisors and census takers by completing a single application online. Opportunities are available in the entire state and offer flexible work hours, including daytime, evenings and weekends.

For more information, contact 1-855-JOB-2020 and select option three. Applicants may also contact the Federal Relay Service at 1-800-877-8339. For more information, or to apply online, visit the 2020 census jobs page: www.2020census.gov/jobs.
