Loudoun County artists are invited to submit artwork for an exhibit highlighting African American history, culture and contributions to Loudoun County. For the exhibit, entitled “Brilliance & Resilience,” submissions may:

  • be artwork created by African American artists living in Loudoun County, and/or
  • depict real or imagined scenes from past, present and/or futuristic African American life and culture.

Artwork must be original and can be in any two-dimensional medium, including painting, fiber arts, photography, drawing, screen printing, etc. The artwork will be exhibited in Gallery One on the first floor of the Loudoun County Government Center from January 13 through March 13, 2020.

The gallery has an installed hanging system, so all artwork must be framed with wire on the back for hanging. Artwork may not be for sale; however, artists can provide contact information for the public.

Artwork will be received at Gallery One Monday, January 13, 2020, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Artists will complete a registration form on-site. There is no fee for participating.   Questions should be directed to the Art Advisory Committee by emailing Elizabeth Bracey or calling 540-338-7973.

This exhibition is sponsored by the Loudoun County Art Advisory Committee. The Loudoun County Art Advisory Committee was created by the Board of Supervisors in 1978 to collect and display works of art that reflect the diverse Loudoun community. The AAC manages a large and growing permanent and loaned art collection as well as producing six art exhibits each year. More information about the committee is online at loudoun.gov/advisory-art
