UPDATE
The victim in the July 8 homicide has been identified as a 24-year-old Winchester man.
The victim, Jose I. Escobar Menendez, was located deceased in the roadway along Emerald Point Terrace near Winding Road in the Sterling area around 3:30 a.m. on July 8.
This remains an active investigation. There is no indication there is a threat to the community.

Loudoun County, VA (July 8, 2020) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent homicide in the Sterling area.
The victim was located in the roadway along Emerald Point Terrace near Winding Road around 3:30 a.m. on July 8. The victim, an adult male, has not been identified at this time.
The LCSO continues to canvass the area and residents can expect a continued law enforcement presence in the community. Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective M.
