[ARCHIVED] Free Webinar on Assistive Technology for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Persons

The Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging is hosting a free webinar on current assistive technology devices to assist persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. The virtual presentation will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Debbie Jones of the Northern Virginia Resource Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons will discuss and demonstrate assistive technology devices, including: 

  • Amplified telephones, captioned telephones and videophones for the home 
  • Apps to bring those functions to smartphones 
  • Doorbells that flash lights or send signals to hand-held devices
  • Alarm clocks that shake the bed
  • Listening systems and captioning devices in movie theaters
  • Live-captioning and remote-interpreting services in classrooms and meeting rooms

There will be time for questions following the presentation. To register, email aaasupport@loudoun.gov. Registrants will receive a confirmation email with a link to join the webinar.
