[ARCHIVED] Loudoun Hosts Back-to-School Free COVID-19 Testing Event August 16

The Loudoun County Health Department will host a special COVID-19 testing event to provide parents and students who are returning from summer vacations and preparing to head back to school in the coming weeks with an opportunity to receive a free test for the virus before entering classrooms.

“The timing of this event will allow many families who may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus to determine whether they are infected and also to complete isolation with minimum impact on class attendance,” said Loudoun County Health Director Dr. David Goodfriend. “While the event is open to everyone and all would benefit from testing, I particularly encourage parents and guardians to get their kids tested at this event, regardless of vaccination status, to ensure it is safe for them to go to school.”

COVID-19 Testing Event Date and Location

The free, drive-thru COVID-19 testing event is scheduled on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park, 42405 Claudia Drive, Leesburg. (Enter the park on Crosstrail Boulevard from Sycolin Road.)

The August 16 testing event is open to all. There are no age or residency requirements. No identification is required. No prescriptions or appointments are necessary. A person does not have to exhibit symptoms of COVID-19 in order to be tested. A PCR test (nasal swab) will be administered, which tests for the novel coronavirus. No antibody or rapid tests will be offered. No COVID-19 vaccine will be available at this event.

Registration Form

To help reduce wait times, people who plan to attend the testing event are strongly encouraged to complete a registration form for each person who will be receiving a test prior to arriving at the testing site. The registration form is required and asks for general demographics and contact information, including name, date of birth, address, phone number and current symptoms, if any. Questions about insurance may be ignored.

The fillable form may be downloaded, filled out, printed and completed forms should be brought with you to the testing site. Forms will also be available at the testing site for individuals who do not have access to a printer or otherwise are unable to complete the forms in advance. The forms are also available at loudoun.gov/COVID19testing.

COVID-19 Vaccine

The Health Department encourages everyone age 12 and older who has not already received a COVID-19 to get vaccinated as soon as possible. To find a vaccine provider near you, visit loudoun.gov/covid19vaccine

“Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19,” added Dr. Goodfriend. “Additionally, we recommend everyone wear a mask while in indoor public settings in regions where community transmission of the virus is substantial or high, which Loudoun is experiencing right now.”

More information about guarding against COVID-19 is posted on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website
