Join the VCE Loudoun Master Gardeners on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. for the virtual lecture: "Forgotten Foods: Foraging For a New Gastronomy in Our Own Back Yards, Fields, and Forests" with Clay Morris, Natural Resources Section Chief, Prince William County.

Discover the many wild, edible plants that grow all around us. Their place in our history and on our tables will be explored while also learning how to make use of some of our most common “weeds”. Learn recipes to transform dandelion, field garlic, and garlic mustard, as well as other familiar plants, into delicious additions to your cooking.

When not working for Prince William County as the Nature Resources Section Chief, Clay Morris is an avid forager, gardener, and ecologist. His interest in ethnobotany has led him to a collaboration with the Pamunkey Indian Reservation in King William County to document the tribe’s use of native plants as both food and medicine. As a consummate “foodie”, he explores the wide repertoire of foraged foods through the lens of history, food culture, and the sheer enjoyment of using old foods in new ways.

This event is in partnership with and hosted by Loudoun County Public Libraries.
