In collaboration with Loudoun's Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Virginia Household Water Quality Program provides affordable water testing, helps interpret water test results, and provides information about addressing problems.

How does it work?

  • Pick up your sample kit at the Loudoun Extension office. We will be offering pick up at our office located at 750 Miller Drive SE, Suite F3, Leesburg, VA 20175: Monday, 4/4/22, 8:30am - 5:30pm
  • Collect samples and drop off at our office located at 750 Miller Drive SE, Suite F3, Leesburg, VA 20175 (drive-thru drop off): Wednesday, 4/6/22, 7:30am – 10:00am ONLY

Cost: $60/sample kit* (comparable analysis at a private commercial lab would cost more than $300).

Samples are analyzed at Virginia Tech.  Receive your confidential results, an explanation of what they mean, and information about addressing any problems via email about 6 weeks after the sample drop off.

Testing includes: Iron, Sodium, Fluoride, Manganese, Copper, Hardness, Coliform bacteria, E. coli bacteria, Total Dissolved Solids, Arsenic, Lead, pH, Sulfate, & Nitrate.

For more information about this program, please contact Stuart Vermaak, Loudoun County Extension Office, at svermaak@vt.edu.  You can also visit http://www.wellwater.bse.vt.edu/

* Please note that financial support is available for individuals/families who may need assistance covering this cost. Please contact us directly if you are interested in a need-based scholarship (svermaak@vt.edu).
