[ARCHIVED] Loudoun Hosts Virtual Public Input Session on Energy Strategy June 29

Link to information about the Loudoun County Energy Strategy

Loudoun County will host a virtual public input session on the development of an updated energy strategy for the county Wednesday, June 29, 2022, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Links to login information for the virtual session are available for review at loudoun.gov/energy. Members of the public are encouraged to watch a video presentation and submit an online comment form prior to the meeting. Members of the public must sign up in advance by 12:00 p.m., June 28, 2022, to provide comments during the meeting.

The county is in the process of updating the Loudoun County Energy Strategy (PDF) adopted in 2009 and is seeking comments from members of the community in three major topic areas.

  • Supporting Renewable Energy Development in Loudoun County: Facilitating greater solar and other types of renewable energy use.
  • Stimulate Communitywide Actions: Ensuring energy equity and reducing emissions from the transportation, residential and commercial sectors.
  • Government by Example: Includes actions the Loudoun County government can undertake with its own energy practices.

The public input session follows a Board of Supervisors’ Energy Strategies Planning workshop in 2021, which featured a facilitated discussion on the priorities, process and approach for updating the county’s current energy strategy, which provides a comprehensive, 30-year road map of energy strategies for the Loudoun County government and community. The discussion included the role of the county government in energy sustainability, possible funding mechanisms for implementing the energy strategy, and the identification of new programs and initiatives that can benefit all residents and businesses.

More information about the county’s energy initiatives and the June 29 virtual public input session, including how to sign up to speak at the meeting and provide comments through the online form, can be found at loudoun.gov/energy.
