Pesticide Tips

When should you use pesticides, and how can you use them safely? 

Find out with Beth Sastre of the Virginia Cooperative Extension. Beth will discuss the safe use of pesticides, including when to use them and how to decide when they are necessary. She will also share best practices on how to protect yourself and the environment. Beth will specifically highlight pesticide use for controlling the spotted lanternfly.

Commercial Horticulturalist Beth Sastre assists Loudoun Growers in finding joint solutions to locally-identified problems related to agriculture. Her work experience includes horticulture, propagation, entomology, fungi microbiology, postharvest physiology, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), lab research, extension and educational programs. Beth Sastre has a Master's Degree in Nutrition and Postharvest Physiology at the Food and Development Research Center (CIAD) in Hermosillo, Sonora, MX, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Agronomy from UAAAN-UL.
