The Loudoun Pet Pantry celebrates its one-year anniversary this month. To date, more than 2,100 pet food kits have been distributed to Loudoun County families in need. “We are thrilled with the success of this public/private partnership. By working together, we are keeping four-legged, furry family members in their homes and out of the animal shelter due to financial hardship,” said Amy Martin, Shelter Administrator at Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS).

The Loudoun Pet Pantry began service to Loudoun County residents in September 2013, through a partnership between LCAS, the Humane Society of Loudoun County and Loudoun Interfaith Relief. Volunteers take donated bags of cat and dog food and canned food to create kits which are distributed to families in need. Those interested in donating are asked to contribute bags of dry food between three and ten pounds, and canned food, especially for dogs. Several businesses lend their support to the Loudoun Pet Pantry by serving as donation drop box locations. For a list of these locations, visit www.loudoun.gov/petpantry .

The Loudoun Pet Pantry’s mission is to help keep pets in loving homes by providing food supplies for families in need.
