Sterling Man Sentenced for Sexual Abuse
Judge Imposes Five Years
LEESBURG, Virginia – September 10, 2014. Marcos Dos Reis, 32, was sentenced to a total term of twenty years in the Virginia Department of Corrections with fifteen years suspended for aggravated sexual battery. The charge stems from acts committed against a minor child family member over a course of several years.
Judge J. Howe Brown further ordered Dos Reis to have no contact with the victim, no unsupervised contact with any minor children, successfully complete a sex offender treatment program, and be placed on supervised probation for an indefinite period of time upon his release from prison.
Pursuant to Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Act, Dos Reis will also be required to register as a sex offender. Information about the Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry and those on it can be found on the Virginia State Police website: http://sex-offender.vsp.virginia.gov.
Dos Reis, a native of Brazil, entered the United States illegally. An immigration detainer is in place, which should secure his removal from this country upon completion of his sentence.
