ANTHONY ROBERTS INDICTED IN 2009 LANSDOWNE MURDER CASE
LEESBURG, Virginia – February 10, 2015. Eleven Indictments were presented on Monday, February 9th in the 2009 attack of William and Cynthia Bennett in Lansdowne. William Bennett lost his life as a result of the attack.
The Grand Jury heard evidence from Detective Mark Bush of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office before returning true bills charging Anthony Rumont Roberts, 26, with five counts of Capital Murder, two counts of robbery, one count of aggravated malicious wounding, object sexual penetration, abduction with intent to defile, and rape related to the 2009 incident.
Roberts is currently in the custody of the Virginia Department of Corrections serving a previously imposed sentence for unrelated offenses.
The Loudoun County Circuit Court will schedule further proceedings on the indictments Monday, February 23, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
