LEESBURG MAN SENTENCED TO SIX AND A HALF YEARS IN PRISON FOR BURGLARIES
LEESBURG, Virginia – April 29, 2015. Judge Benjamin N. A. Kendrick sentenced Aleksander Kavon Shamloo, 28, to twenty years and twelve months with all but six years and six months suspended in the Virginia Department of Corrections in connection with a series of burglaries in Leesburg and Ashburn in December 2012 and January 2013. Shamloo entered pleas of guilty to ten counts of breaking and entering, nine counts of grand larceny, one count of obtaining by false pretense, and one count of unlawful entry in Loudoun County Circuit Court on April 29, 2014.
Beginning in early December 2012, there were a series of burglaries throughout downtown Leesburg. Businesses, residences, and churches were broken into and various items and money were stolen. Four homes in Ashburn were burglarized by the same suspect in January 2013.
Leesburg Police Department Detectives were able to locate an X-Box gaming system that was stolen during one of the residential burglaries at Gamestop in Leesburg. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Aleksander Kavon Shamloo through Gamestop’s transaction records. Further investigation led detectives to Shamloo’s residence where additional stolen property was located. Shamloo was subsequently arrested.
During an interview with detectives, Shamloo admitted to participating in the burglaries and identified two other suspects, Marissa Taylor Arpajian and Donovan Patrick Gallagher, who were also involved in the thefts.
While some of the stolen property was located and returned to its owners, many items were not recovered. Judge Kendrick ordered that Shamloo pay over $33,000 in restitution to the victims. Kendrick further ordered that Shamloo be placed on twenty years of supervised probation upon his release from prison.
Arpajian received a twelve month deferred finding on a trespassing charge for her role in the burglaries. Her charge was dismissed after her successful completion of twelve months of supervised probation and 756 hours of community service.
Gallagher plead guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on April 12, 2013. On September 9, 2013 Gallagher was sentenced by Judge Burke F. McCahill to five years with all but two years suspended in the Virginia Department of Corrections. McCahill further order that Gallagher be placed on three years of supervised probation upon his release, followed by two years of unsupervised probation.
