REPEAT CRIMINAL GIVEN SIX YEARS AND NINE MONTHS
FOR PISTOL WHIPPING AND ATTEMPTED ROBBERY
ADDITIONAL VIOLATIONS RAISE PRISON TERM TO NINE YEARS
LEESBURG, Virginia – November 23, 2015. Noah Lamont Wyatt, 22, appeared before the Circuit Court of Loudoun County, in custody, for sentencing on one count of malicious wounding, one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count of attempted robbery, and one count of possession of a firearm by felon. Judge Burke F. McCahill committed Wyatt to the Virginia Department of Corrections for seven years and nine months.
In January 2015, Wyatt made arrangements with an acquaintance to buy marijuana and “molly” in Loudoun County. The acquaintance and another individual agreed to meet Wyatt in a Sterling neighborhood. Neither of the men brought illegal drugs or any money with them to the meeting. The three met and began walking down the street together. After a short time, Wyatt brandished a handgun and ordered the other men to “get down” and turn over anything they had with them. When the two men refused, Wyatt struck one of them repeatedly in the head with the butt of the handgun. During the struggle the gun discharged. The victim attempted to hit the gun out of Wyatt’s hand and ran down the street. Wyatt caught up with the victim and continued to strike him with the gun. The victim fought back and was eventually able to flee the scene. The second victim was also able to flee.
The injured victim was treated at a local hospital for a head wound, which required twenty-two staples to close. He experienced head pain and hearing difficulty for several weeks after the incident.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Detectives were able to locate additional witnesses who drove Wyatt to the scene of the incident. These witnesses were able to direct detectives to the location of the gun. It was later determined that the gun was previously reported stolen from Clarke County, Virginia.
Although brief, Wyatt’s adult criminal history is extensive dating back to 2012, which includes prior felony convictions for grand larceny, shoplifting and a probation violation in addition to numerous misdemeanor offenses. Wyatt has also had multiple contacts with the juvenile court system.
In addition to the active prison sentence, Judge McCahill imposed an additional fifteen years and nine months of suspended time and ordered Wyatt to be placed on seven years of supervised probation upon his release from prison.
Wyatt was on probation for grand larceny and shoplifting convictions at the time of this offense and the court revoked an additional one year and six months that had been previously suspended on those charges.
Wyatt was also prosecuted in Clarke County for the theft of the firearm and received one year and three months to serve from the Clarke County Circuit Court.
Wyatt’s total prison term for the three matters is nine years.
