Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman Named to State-wide Judicial Commission
LEESBURG, VA – March 9, 2016. Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Jim Plowman, was elected by the Virginia General Assembly to serve on Virginia’s Judicial Inquiry and Review Commission.
The Commission was created by the Constitution of Virginia to investigate charges of judicial misconduct or serious mental or physical disability. The Commission has seven members consisting of three judges, two lawyers, and two citizens who are not lawyers and has state-wide jurisdiction. The members are elected by the Virginia General Assembly for four-year terms. Plowman was elected in a unanimous vote of 91-0 on the House floor and 38-0 on the Senate floor.
The Commission employs a staff to assist in the investigation of complaints of misconduct against all state court judges, members of the State Corporation Commission, and members of the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission
“I am very pleased to serve in this capacity and appreciate the confidence show by the support of a bi-partisan legislature,” said Plowman. “The legal profession is one of a few self-policing occupations and I look forward to being part of that effort.”
Plowman has nearly twenty years as a practicing attorney handling both civil and criminal litigation. Plowman’s appointment is a four year term commencing July 1, 2016.
