VIRGINIA SUPREME COURT DENIES PETITION FOR NEW TRIAL

RYAN WILLIAMS REMAINS IN PRISON

LEESBURG, Virginia – July 27, 2016. The Virginia Supreme Court denied Ryan Blaine Williams’ petition for a new trial on his 2014 convictions for first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

During the course of the five day jury trial, which concluded in June 2014, Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Alejandra Rueda and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Gregory Rosen presented evidence that in the afternoon hours of December 27, 2012, Williams entered Jovaughn Johnson’s parked vehicle in a residential area of Sterling, shooting him five times. Johnson’s body remained in the vehicle for several hours before being discovered by Loudoun County Sheriff’s Deputies.

On November 10, 2014, Loudoun County Circuit Court Judge Thomas D. Horne upheld a jury verdict sentencing Williams to life plus three years in the Virginia Department of Corrections.

Williams has been incarcerated since his arrest for these charges in February 2013.
