GUILTY PLEAS IN 2017 DUI TRAFFIC FATALITY
FINAL SENTENCING SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 19, 2018
LEESBURG, Virginia – July 17, 2018. Andre Michael Glenn, 27, entered pleas of guilty to involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence, and driving with a suspended operator’s license.
On the evening of February 20, 2017, Glenn, along with friends and co-workers gathered at a restaurant for a party. Several hours later, Glenn offered to drive a group home from the party. Glenn and three friends left the restaurant in his Jeep Wrangler. Shortly thereafter, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an accident on Route 28. Upon their arrival, deputies observed Glenn’s Jeep Wrangler with no right front tire and extensive body damage. The Jeep Wrangler had struck the concrete lane divider on Route 28. One of Glenn’s passengers, Gabrielle Miranda Perry, lay in the middle of Route 28 being evaluated by Fire and Rescue personnel. Perry died at the scene of the accident.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction suggests that Glenn allowed the vehicle to drift to the right and then applied the brakes while at a high rate of speed in an attempt to stop the vehicle before hitting the concrete barrier. When the vehicle struck the concrete barrier, it caused the Jeep to veer to the left. Subsequently, Glenn overcorrected to the right at a high rate of speed causing the Jeep to roll over several times. Perry and the other rear passenger were ejected from the Jeep during the rollovers.
At the accident scene, law enforcement observed Glenn to have bloodshot eyes, a distinct odor of alcohol on his breath, and he was so unsteady on his feet he had to be assisted to a sitting position against the concrete barrier wall near the accident wreckage. Glenn was subsequently placed under arrest and upon his arrival to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, he submitted to a breath test. The results of the breath test were .14 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath, well over the .08 legal limit. It was also determined that Glenn’s Virginia operator’s license was suspended in February 2016.
Glenn’s bond was revoked after his pleas of guilty and he is being held without bond in the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. Glenn’s final sentencing hearing is scheduled for October 19, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Loudoun County Circuit Court. Glenn faces up to twelve years in prison.
