FAIRFAX COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR SOLICITING A MINOR OVER THE INTERNET
JUDGE IMPOSES 5 YEARS
LEESBURG, Virginia – September 14, 2018. Brandon Lewis Struble, 27, of Lorton, appeared before Judge Lorraine Nordlund in Loudoun County Circuit Court for sentencing on one count of electronic solicitation of a minor less than fifteen years old, while being at least seven years older. Nordlund imposed the mandatory minimum of five years in the Virginia Department of Corrections.
In early December 2016, Struble responded to a Craigslist ad posted by a Leesburg Police Department Detective posing as an “inexperienced young girl.” Struble continued his online conversations with the detective, whom he believed was an almost 15 year old girl. In late January 2017, Struble set up a meeting with the “teen girl” in Leesburg for the purpose of sexual activity. Struble arrived at the pre-arranged location as scheduled, and was subsequently arrested by law enforcement.
Struble pleaded guilty to the offense on June 20, 2018
Struble will be placed on three years of post-release supervision upon his release from incarceration. Pursuant to Virginia’s Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry Act, Struble will also be required to register as a sex offender.
