Loudoun County, VA- Thanks to the extraordinary support of county residents and businesses, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) raised over $22,000 for cancer prevention and research. LCSO was the top fundraising law enforcement agency in the country for the month of No Shave November.

In addition, the LCSO recently participated in the Pink Patch Project in October and along with No Shave November, raised an extraordinary amount of monies in just the past two months. “Like many who have been personally impacted by cancer, our agency sadly lost two members to this disease in recent years,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman. “We were again overwhelmed by the generosity of the community who helped make these campaigns a huge success in Loudoun,” added Sheriff Chapman.

In November, Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies put down their razors and let their beards grow for a good cause and helped raise over $17,700 for cancer research as part of No Shave November. Members of the LCSO donated $25 to participate in the campaign. Monies were also raised from the generous support of Loudoun residents and businesses, including Ashburn based a wink & a Smile. The eye and dental care practice donated $100 for every deputy who stopped in to take a picture with staff.

The non-profit no-shave.org was launched in 2009 and over the last eight years, the campaign has successfully raised over $3.5 million dollars to combat this disease. This year’s event will fund organizations including the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

In October, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office sold limited edition pink uniform patches to raise monies as part of breast cancer awareness month. The patches were donated by Modern Mechanical and the agency raised $5,000 for the Loudoun Breast Health Network (LBHN). The Loudoun based organization assists residents diagnosed with cancer to provide financial and emotional assistance. The patches were offered as part of the Pink Patch Project, a national campaign that raises awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment for breast cancer.

Over the past two years, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has participated in events that support local residents and organizations in the county. These events engage the community in our efforts and have raised over $50,000, collected over 2,000 toys for hospitalized children, and provided other much-needed donations.
