Virginia General Assembly Appoints Circuit Court Judge in the 20th Judicial District
Appointment allows flexibility in adding Drug Court docket
LEESBURG, Virginia – January 18, 2019. Wednesday, the Virginia General Assembly took action to fill the vacant position in the 20th Judicial District for a Circuit Court Judge. The election of this Judge will be effective July 1, 2019 when they will take the bench. The 20th Judicial District is comprised of the Counties of Loudoun, Fauquier and Rappahannock. This position, and many others across the state, had been unfunded.
“I’m grateful that the General Assembly took action to fill this much needed position as it will help relieve pressure on our Court’s dockets and ensure the citizens’ ability to resolve disputes without unnecessary delays,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Plowman. “Additionally, this is a positive step forward in adding to the Judiciary that will need this resource to ensure they have the flexibility in adding our revitalized Drug Court docket which is scheduled to become active this spring,” added Plowman.
