Loudoun County, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office announced today that applications for the 31st Annual McGruff Safety Camps will be made available on Monday, April 15, 2019, at 9 a.m. The applications will be downloadable here and must be mailed to: Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 7200, SE Leesburg, VA 20177-7200. Applications that are dropped off or faxed will not be accepted.
Due to popular demand, the Sheriff’s Office continues to offer morning and afternoon camps. The dates for the weeklong camps will be June 24 – June 28 at CountrySide Elementary School in Sterling, Va., July 8– July 12, and July 15 – July 19 at Evergreen Mill Elementary School in Leesburg, Va. All camps run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The camps allow children who are entering kindergarten and first grade to learn various topics on safety including fire safety, bicycle safety, and 9-1-1 emergencies. Throughout the week children in the camp will have an opportunity to meet law enforcement officers, K-9 officers, plus a chance to see law enforcement and fire/rescue vehicles firsthand.

The camps began back in the summer of 1988 and have continued every summer through a joint effort between the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and Loudoun County Fire and Rescue.
