[ARCHIVED] Loudoun Celebrates Completion of Riverside Parkway Segment

Loudoun County officials are celebrating the completion of another significant road project that will relieve traffic congestion: the completion of a missing segment of Riverside Parkway between Ashburn Village Boulevard and Lexington Drive.

On Wednesday, members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors joined with other officials, Loudoun County government staff, members of the project team and members of the community for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. All lanes of the road segment will be open to traffic following the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The project constructed a four lane, median-divided roadway, with a shared use path on the north side of the road, and installed a traffic signal at the intersection with Ashburn Village Boulevard. The total cost of the project, which was funded by the county, was approximately $3.75 million.

This short segment of Riverside Parkway is significant because it provides a connection to Lexington Drive on the north side of Route 7. Opening this roadway will enable the county to eventually remove the traffic signal on Route 7 and Lexington Drive in conjunction with the construction of Riverside Parkway between Lexington Drive and Loudoun County Parkway, which is scheduled for the coming year.
