Preserving Loudoun’s Records Event Set for June 7

Image of Historic Records

Loudoun Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary M. Clemens is once again presenting the popular Preserving Loudoun’s Records event as part of the Town of Leesburg's First Friday festivities, June 7, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Learn how Loudoun’s court papers have held up against time, historical events, and the environment. The Historic Records staff will discuss and demonstrate how the records are being preserved in the 21st century. Spend an evening learning how a spa tank, flat filing and mending court papers are saving the records for a new century. This exhibition will include: Rough Minute Book 1780-1782, Court Order Book 1776-1782 and Loudoun’s first Court Order book from 1757.  These books were recently conserved with grants from the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The event takes place at the Loudoun County Courthouse, 18 E. Market Street in Leesburg.
