The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System is honored to be awarded the Silver Plus Mission Lifeline Award from the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program recognizes hospitals and EMS agencies for their success in improving the quality of care for acute, high-risk, time sensitive, life and/or quality of life threatening coronary conditions.

The American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program’s goal is to reduce system barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks, beginning with the 9-1-1 call, to EMS transport and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge. The initiative provides tools, training and other resources to support heart attack care following protocols from the most recent evidence-based treatment guidelines.

LC-CFRS met specific criteria and standards of performance for quick and appropriate treatment of STEMI through emergency procedures, to re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries in heart attack patients coming into the hospital directly or by transfer from another facility.

Per Keith H. Johnson, Chief of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System, "The care our patients receive is our number one priority and we’re proud to be among the agencies recognized for performance in the Mission: Lifeline program of the American Heart Association."

LC-CFRS was awarded Mission Lifeline Bronze Awards in both 2017 and 2018.
