[ARCHIVED] Protect Your Pets from Hot Weather

Infographic about hot weather and animals

As you look for ways to beat the heat during this period of hot weather, don’t forget your pets. Loudoun County Animal Services reminds everyone that hot weather can be dangerous not only for people but also for pets.

Never leave pets in parked cars.  Even on cooler days, a vehicle’s internal temperature can quickly heat up. For example, on an 85 degree day, it only takes ten minutes for the inside of a car to reach 102 degrees.

Virginia law requires pet owners to provide water and adequate shelter from the elements. It is against the law to leave pets in hot cars.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for the latest forecast.
