[ARCHIVED] Residents Invited to 8th Annual Child Safety Day at the Village at Leesburg

Website- Press Release

Loudoun County, Va. - The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) will hold their 8th Annual Child Safety Day in partnership with the Town of Leesburg Police Department on August 10, 2019, at the Village at Leesburg.

This free event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. and will feature Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office vehicles, K-9 Unit, and a dive truck and boat. Stop by and visit displays from the LCSO, the Town of Leesburg Police Department, the DEA, the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, Loudoun Child Advocacy Center, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter, Loudoun Child Protective Services, Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company, Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad, Loudoun County Animal Services, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, FBI, and Inova Pediatrics.

Many of the displays at Child Safety Day will provide information to parents on how they can protect their child from becoming a victim of a crime. “We introduced Child Safety Day in 2012, as the well-being of our children is of the utmost importance to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office,” said Loudoun Sheriff Mike Chapman. “As part of our efforts to ensure your child’s safety, we expanded D.A.R.E. into middle schools, held technology and drug safety forums for parents and children, and are now working to expand the school resource officer program into every elementary school,” added Sheriff Chapman.

At Child Safety Day, the LCSO will again invite Loudoun youth to “lend a hand in fighting crime” by dipping their hands in non-toxic, washable paint and placing their handprints on our Sheriff’s Office car.  The event will also include live entertainment, a moon bounce, and games.

Also at this year’s event, the LCSO will present the sixth Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Leadership Award. The leadership award honors members of the Loudoun County community who display outstanding leadership and make valuable contributions to improve the lives of others.

The Village at Leesburg is located at 1602 Village Market Boulevard, SE, in Leesburg, Va.
