The Loudoun County 4-H has received a grant from the NRA Foundation for the 4-H Shooting Education Program. The grant has provided more than $3,000 worth of equipment for the program, which stresses gun safety, form, accuracy, self-discipline and proper sporting usage of target firearms.

The new equipment includes a high pressure air compressor, two air pistols, four BB guns, kneeling pads and other assorted gear.

The equipment received through the grant allows 4-H members to learn hands-on firearm safety. The grant provides members who have an interest in competitive shooting events the opportunity to practice with state-of-the-art equipment and helps keep expenses down for families who participate in the program.

4-H is the youth development education program of Virginia Cooperative Extension, which focuses on development of life skills. More than 176,000 young people between the ages of 5 and 19 participate in Virginia 4-H activities each year with the help of over 15,000 adult and youth volunteers. Virginia Cooperative Extension is an outreach of Virginia Tech and Virginia State Universities.

Anyone who would to learn more about 4-H may contact Loudoun 4-H Extension Agent Carly Wright at 703-777-0373. More information about 4-H also is online at loudoun.gov/4-H.
