Beginning, March 12, 2020, any patron who would normally visit the clerk’s office to obtain copies of deeds, land records, judgments or historic records may contact the historic records and deed research office via email at clerks-archives@loudoun.gov to request copies, pay for the copies by phone and have the copies mailed to the them. Please note that the historic records office cannot conduct research so the client must have specific information regarding the documents being requested.
Citizens who need to obtain copies of their marriage license may contact the public services office via email at dept-clerkct-public_services@loudoun.gov or by calling 703-771-5647 to request copies, pay for the copies by phone and have the copies mailed to them. Please provide the full name of both parties on the marriage license.
The Public Services Division offers couples who are getting married the ability to complete their marriage license application online through the clerk’s website at https://www.loudoun.gov/1162/Marriage-Licenses . Completing the application online prior to arrival will reduce processing time for the customer at the clerk’s office. Virginia law does require the couple to personally appear in the clerk’s office to obtain a marriage license. A marriage license is valid for 60 days once issued by the clerk’s office.
The Clerk of the Circuit Court accepts electronic recording of deeds and land records. Clients who typically present deeds and land records for legal recordation are encouraged to submit transactions via the clerk’s electronic recording system. “We are examining ways to offer services to our clients and our citizens to maximize our customer’s time,” stated Gary Clemens, Clerk of the Circuit Court. “We will continue to explore and implement alternative ways of providing service without the need for the personal appearance of our patrons, while also continuing to remain in compliance with the Code of Virginia.”
