[ARCHIVED] New Customer Service Hours for Clerk of Circuit Court

In an effort to reduce citizen visits to the courts complex in Leesburg, limit the number of people in the Clerk’s Office consistent with recommendations from state and local health officials and promote social distancing, the Clerk of the Circuit Court is offering essential services by appointment only and the customer service hours for these services will be changed effective April 6, 2020. The customer service hours will be 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. Information regarding requesting an appointment for essential services is available at www.loudoun.gov/clerk.

Drop off boxes for legal papers related to deed recordings, civil court cases, criminal court cases and other legal matters, will be available in the hallway outside of the Clerk’s Office from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each business day where visitors can quickly deliver these legal papers for filing and recording. Attorneys, title companies and other clients can deliver filings and recordings by leaving documents for legal filing and legal recordation in these secure drop boxes. The Clerk’s Office employees will routinely review documents secured in the drop boxes for legal processing regularly throughout the day and notify customers when these filings have been processed. Signage regarding the location of the drop off boxes and which boxes to use for delivery of legal papers will be posted to identify the proper location. These drop off locations will enable customers to deliver these legal papers without requiring the interaction with employees and limit the number of people in the Clerk’s Office to promote improved social distancing in response to coronavirus (COVID-19.)

Information regarding the “by appointment only” essential services can be reviewed by visiting the Clerk’s website and selecting the probate, marriage license, notary commission and concealed handgun permit buttons on the home page. “We are still providing essential services for Loudoun residents consistent with the order of the Chief Justice of the Virginia Supreme Court but we want to promote better social distancing for our visitors and for my employees. These modified business operations will allow us to achieve the right balance in delivering these essential services while pursuing improved precautions,” stated Gary Clemens, Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Information regarding any future changes in business operations and service delivery will be posted regularly on the Clerk’s website at. More information regarding Loudoun County’s response to and preparations for coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found at www.loudoun.gov.
