Loudoun Fire and Rescue System Member Tests Positive for COVID-19

NEWSFLASH LCFR News - Alerts

On Monday, April 6, 2020, the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) was informed that a System member has tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19.

While on shift Saturday, April 4, 2020, an LC-CFRS first responder, who transported a COVID-19 positive patient early last week, began to develop symptoms possibly consistent with the virus. The first responder and their crew member were immediately advised to quarantine and the individual with symptoms was tested. Today’s test results indicate that the symptomatic first responder is positive for the COVID-19 virus and is currently recovering at home under isolation.

Those first responders that were in close contact to either the COVID-19 positive patient transported last week, or the infected System member, have been contacted and advised to quarantine. LC-CFRS is working alongside the Loudoun County Health Department to identify any members of the public who may have also been in close contact with this System member. LC-CFRS members as well as citizens will be contacted directly by the appropriate agency if there is an exposure concern.

LC-CFRS is currently reporting only one COVID-19 positive member in isolation with 13 additional members quarantined. Fire and EMS officials continue to meet with County and regional leaders to assess the impacts of COVID-19 on our first responders and adjust accordingly.

Any further information will be provided during the COVID-19 update at Tuesday evening’s Loudoun County Board of Supervisors General Business Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. and can be viewed online via https://www.loudoun.gov/webcast.
