Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) - Loudoun celebrates the volunteers who improve the lives of Loudoun County residents during National Volunteer Week, a time dedicated to demonstrating to the nation that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.

National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, 2020 is about taking action and encouraging individuals and their communities to be at the center of social change — discovering and demonstrating their collective power to make a difference.

In 2019, VCE - Loudoun engaged over 630 adult volunteers who provided more than 19,800 hours of volunteer service in and around the county. VCE-Loudoun offers several master volunteer programs that provide training opportunities in community/residential horticulture; food, nutrition, and safety; natural resources management; and hands-on educational programs designed to build leadership, citizenship, and life skills in Virginia 4-H, VCE’s youth development program.  The cumulative effort of Virginia Cooperative Extension volunteer contributions in 2019 equated to $554,500 in effort.

“The volunteers who help Virginia Cooperative Extension are vital to our mission of making a difference in the lives of people in every corner of the commonwealth,” said Edwin Jones, VCE director. “I’d like to thank them personally for all that they do and for being part of our family.”
