[ARCHIVED] Lane Closures Scheduled for Eastbound Rt. 7 at the Rt. 7-659/Belmont Ridge Road Interchange

Beginning on October 23, 2020, Loudoun County plans for day and night lane closures of eastbound Route 7 at the Route7-659/Belmont Ridge Road interchange. The closures are necessary to complete full depth asphalt repairs at two locations within the outer eastbound lane of Route 7.  These repairs will be required to be completed in two separate phases. This construction will allow for one lane of thru traffic eastbound resulting in delays to the traveling public.

The first phase of the repair is planned to begin on Friday, October 23, 2020, at 10 a.m., weather permitting.  It is expected the first phase of the repairs will require a double lane closure and only allow for the innermost lane to be open to eastbound thru traffic.  Once the double lane closure is in effect, crews will be working through the day and night to complete the full depth repairs. This may require that double lane closures will remain in place throughout the weekend and not reopen until sometime on Sunday, October 25, 2020.

The second phase of the repair is expected to be completed approximately one week after the first phase.  It is expected that the second phase will be conducted during daytime hours and require a single lane closure to allow for a final mill and overlay of the repairs. The exact date of the second phase of the repair will be communicated to the public once scheduled.

Electronic message boards will be posted to advise the traveling public to expect delays beginning Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25, 2020. Drivers should use extra caution when traveling through this area and follow all directions from the posted signs and road crews.

Questions about the closures can be directed to the Loudoun County Department of Transportation & Capital Infrastructure by email
