The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed November 15, 2020, as America Recycles Day in Loudoun County.  America Recycles Day is the nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle. The Board’s proclamation calls on residents, businesses and public institutions in the county to reaffirm their commitment to recycling and the environmental and economic benefits recycling brings to the community. Visit americarecyclesday.org to learn more about recycling and join thousands of Americans pledging to recycle.

Loudoun County supports recycling through a variety of programs and encourages everyone to make the effort to recycle. Recycling collection centers are available in multiple locations for free recycling of bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. Other materials that require specialized handling such as used motor oil, antifreeze, automobile batteries, scrap metal and appliances and yard waste are accepted for recycling at the county’s Solid Waste Management Facility.

This year, in support of America Recycles Day, Loudoun County is encouraging everyone to recycle and to focus on keeping unwanted waste out of recycling. Guidelines to help clarify what goes in the bin are available at loudoun.gov/recycle or by calling 703-771-5514.

Collection days for household hazardous materials such as lawn and pool chemicals, old gasoline, fluorescent light bulbs and household batteries are also provided multiple times throughout the year. The next household hazardous waste collection day is scheduled for Saturday, November 21 at Claude Moore Park from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will be at the end of Loudoun Park Lane, just past the recreation center. Visit loudoun.gov/hhw for details.
