[ARCHIVED] LCSO & Cole’s Closet Kick-Off Annual Toy Drive

Untitled design (1)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Loudoun County, VA (November 30, 2020) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has once again partnered with Cole’s Closet, a non-profit organization, to help donate toys to fill “closets” with toys for children while they are at the hospital.

Last year, Loudoun County residents helped the LCSO collect over 2,000 toys for our annual Santa Ride for Cole’s Closet. “We are blessed to live in such a giving, caring, and supportive community, and we are asking our residents to help again this year by donating new, unwrapped toys to bring holiday cheer to hospitalized children,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman.

Donations of toys for children aged infant to 17-years-old will be accepted from now through December 14, 2020. The toys can be dropped off at any LCSO Station, Monday through Friday (excluding Holidays), from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. You can also make a donation directly to Cole’s Closet here: https://www.colescloset.org/programs

The drop-off locations are:

Eastern Loudoun Station - 46620 East Frederick Drive, Sterling, VA

Ashburn Station - 20272 Savin Hill Drive, Ashburn, VA

Dulles South Public Safety Center - 25216 Loudoun County Parkway, Chantilly, VA

Western Loudoun Station - 47 W. Loudoun Street, Round Hill, VA

LCSO Headquarters- 803 Sycolin Road SE, Leesburg, VA

Cole's Closet was created in 2002 by Ellen and Steve Tomczyk after they lost their six-month-old son to an undiagnosed brain disease. The Tomczyks spent four months in and out of area hospitals where they experienced first-hand the anxiety and fear families face when a child is hospitalized. Ellen and Steve began a toy drive at a family holiday party one year after Cole passed away and since then they have donated thousands of new toys to area hospitals.
