The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning that includes Loudoun County, in effect beginning at 3:00 a.m., February 18, lasting until 6:00 a.m. Friday, February 19. The forecasted snow accumulations in Loudoun range from 4 to 8 inches with about 0.10” of ice accumulation from freezing rain.
Weather Impacts on County Operations – Thursday, February 18
County Government Operating Status
- Loudoun County Government will be closed on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Employees who staff essential 24-hour county operations and other essential services must work as scheduled.
COVID-19 Testing Event
- The COVID-19 testing event scheduled for Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Cascades Library is canceled. Anyone considering attending that event is encouraged to consider attending either of the COVID-19 testing events scheduled for next week: February 23 and 25, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding.

COVID-19 Call Center & Vaccination Clinic
- Due to the forecast, the county’s vaccination clinic will be closed Thursday, February 18. All individuals who had vaccination appointments Thursday will be contacted by email or phone and prompted to reschedule their appointments at the next available opportunity.
- In addition, the Loudoun County Health Department’s COVID-19 call center will also be closed.

Loudoun County Courts
- Loudoun County courts will be closed Thursday, February 18. The affected courts are the Loudoun Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

Commuter Bus Service
- All Commuter Bus Services are cancelled on Thursday, February 18.
Metro Connection Bus Service
- All Metro Connection Bus Services are cancelled on Thursday, February 18.
Local Fixed Route Bus Services
- All Local Fixed Route Bus Services are tentatively scheduled to start service at 10:00 a.m. with the following exceptions:
- RT 931/932 (Purcellville to the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station), RT 990/992 (Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail station to Loudoun County employment centers) and the Court House Shuttle– (Pennington garage to the Leesburg Court House) are all cancelled on Thursday, 02/18/2021.
- Thursday morning, the county will determine whether road conditions have improved enough to start services at 10:00 a.m. If road conditions have not improved, then a decision will be made to either delay the start of Local Fixed Route services for a few more hours or to cancel Local Fixed Route services for the day.

- All Paratransit Bus Services are cancelled on Thursday, 02/18/2021
